A Day at the Zoo

Here are some pictures from one of our recent trips to the zoo - it's the same zoo trip from our last post. We just renewed our yearly zoo pass and we've already been four times! It's a great little zoo. Come and join us!

Riding the Reid Park peacock

Tucson's zoo has about a dozen beautiful peacocks just roaming the park. And Lois likes to chase them. And we love that.

J and Lois riding the Choo! Choo! Train

This has been a common occurrence lately - climbing on things. She's loving this frog!

"Look! It's a froggy!"

She makes a cute construction worker, don't you think?

"What?!? I have to get off of this?"

A trip to the zoo is not complete without kissing the elephant statue. Yes, I realize it's kind of gross. But come on...you can imagine grosser things!

I love this picture of J and Lois. They are checking out the giraffes!

Denial: Toddler Style

This video was taken after a trip to the zoo the other day. Is there anything better than some serious toddler denial? I don't think so. I love how after we ask her if she's tired she shakes her head and basically falls asleep again instantly. Yeah, you're not fooling anyone, kid!

I love sleep in every way, shape or form. All I want to do is sleep in every morning. All she wants to do is wake up super early. Every. Morning. She will never admit that she is tired. I admit daily that I'm tired. I want to sleep. She wants to play, play and play. I wish my mom would force me to take naps during the day. Why do kids fight it so?

I guess there's gotta be balance in the universe, right?

Hope you have a great weekend! And get yourself some good sleep!

Happy Thursday!

What could be better on this Thursday afternoon than a cute baby wedgie?

What makes baby wedgies so incredibly cute? I'm sitting here giggling with delight.
So. Stinkin'. Cute.

Am I weird or is this as fantastic as I think it is?

I hope it made your day as much as it made mine.

An Adult Milestone

At what point do you wake up and realize you are turning into a proper adult? You know, when you sit there and think, "when did I become my mother?"

The other night I was running over to FedEx Kinkos to make some copies for church. I turned on the radio and was annoyed at the FM stations and I quickly switched it to talk radio. And the verdict? I love to listen to talk radio. I'm such an old fart!

When I was a kid/teenager, my mom would listen to talk radio all the time while we drove around running errands. It drove me nuts! How boring was she? Talk radio? Sick! Jibber! I remembered getting in the car and immediately turning the radio to some FM music station to listen to what respectable people listen to - which was certainly not talk radio. Of course I was thinking, my mom is so not-cool.

Boy, I'm eating my words now. I guess I'm so not-cool, because I love it and I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm just waiting until the day when life comes full circle and my children will roll their eyes at me and tell me how lame and un-cool I am because I listen to talk radio. Can't wait for that.

Who likes talk radio out there? If you do, when did you start listening?

A Good Laugh

I love watching America's Funniest Videos. Am I the only one out there that thinks this show is absolutely hilarious? In fact, I think it could be one of my favorites. Folks, it's quality and wholesome entertainment! I guess there's something to be said that it's in its 20th season.

But really, this show makes me laugh. out. loud. And if I ever need a quick pick-me-up, I can watch an episode and be ten times happier! It's totally awesome. Even Lois gets a good laugh out of it.

There's just something about seeing people making fools of themselves. Am I right or am I right? What could be better than seeing people doing stupid stuff, gents getting hit in the you-know-where or watching kids just being funny kids?

I think my affinity for this show started as a youngster. Anybody else have a date night with ABC's TGIF line-up as a kid? I did. Every Friday night. I also loved Full House. Bob Saget ruled the early 90's. And I was a full partaker of his corny humor. Good times. And I have to say, I do love Tom Bergeron's hosting and commentary now. Am I a dork or what?!? :-)

Who's with me on this one?

How do I pick just ONE?

Aww. Our little rugrat. We kind of like her. After uploading my photos and going through them, I just couldn't help myself. How could I just pick a few to share? Lois is just bursting with personality and her newest thing is to squint her eyes for the camera and say, "cheese!" Gotta love it. Enjoy her craziness! She really is a little nut.

"Cheese!"

We asked her to open her eyes in this one. Close, but no cigar, kid.

The next bunch of pictures were taken the night we had a huge birthday bash for my mom, Kelly and Clara. I'm pretty sure this was one of the greatest and most entertaining nights of Lois' short little life. She was in heaven. I wish we could live closer to cousins, aunts and uncles. We all had so much fun and Lois didn't go to bed until 10:30 that night because she refused to leave the party. She's such a social bug.

That is one big mouth, babe.

This one is my favorite. I can't wait for her to bust this one out when she's a teenager because she's so annoyed with me, her so un-cool mother.
Cute Tandi. I have awesome sisters-in-law - did you know?

Mack, Kelly and Jordan.

Cecily and Lois. Lois adores these cute sisters!

This one cracks me up. Clara saying, "LOOOOK!" Lois was clearly not being very obedient.

...but I think they got a good shot! How cute is that little face? I just wanna eat it.

Clara with Stella and crazy bum.

These two are definitely a sweet little duo.

Love this one of both of them - especially Stella. I'm sure "second wind" was kicking in right about here.

RRROOOOAAAARR!!

Birthdays Galore!

Both of Lois' grandmothers (and one of her grandpas) celebrate their birthdays in February. Here are some pictures from the birthday celebrations!

My dad with his granddaughters. How cute is that?

Tandi and baby Phoebe at my mom's birthday dinner at the Spaghetti Factory.

Lois and me - and Lois' new haircut. Thanks, Aunt Janellie!

Cousin Stella looks so big in this picture. They grow so fast! Lois loved hanging out with "Stayah."

Mom on her birthday!

Lois celebrating Grandma Wright's birthday with a balloon crown. What a pretty princess!

The birthday couple - at Applebees!

And this is a picture from a fun little outing with Uncle Mackie and Preston - my two stud-muffin brothers! I love these guys.

We also celebrated Aunt Kelly's birthday and cousin Clara's birthday. Lots of February birthdays in our family!

I'm still here. Are you?

I'm hoping I haven't lost all of you due to my blogging inactivity/laziness...are you still there? I hope so! In a nutshell, January and February brought us lots of visitors - which has kept us busy. We had two friends stay with us who were interviewing for residencies at the University of Arizona. Then, we were lucky to have my brother Jordan and his wife, Kelly come and see us. Jordan golfed and Kelly and I shopped and watched old movies. My mom came next to visit for a little over two weeks. We looked at real estate, hung out, watched some more old movies, shopped and attended the annual Gem Fair. Moms are great, aren't they? We had a blast. Then I drove back with her to the 'Tah. This little trip provided Grandma and Grandpa Wright with some much needed grandbaby time and to remind myself how much I dislike cold weather and the snow. Wow, am I a lightweight or what? Being so ill-equipped for the cold weather made it that much more painful. But I do love family, so it was all worth it.

And now, here I sit. March 9th! Where did these past few months go? It really is amazing how fast time flies. So here are some pictures of our grown up girl. She's officially 21 months old and is the joy of our lives. She's full of personality and loves to go "owside" and play at the park.

Here are a few pictures from the park with Aunt Kelly.

Peek-a-boo!

Hello, world!!

Love that face, Lois. Nice.
