A Mom Wish - A Drive Thru World

Since Lois was born, I have been thinking how great it would be if there was a drive thru for everything.  Now that I have this little wee, it takes twice as long to do the small things that have, in the past, taken only five minutes to accomplish.  For example, I wish I could just drive up to a window at the grocery store and say, "I need a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread."  That way, I wouldn't have to park, get the baby out, go in, shop, pay, reload Lois into the car, then load my purchases -- just for a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread.

Another example:  Today I went to buy a Bumbo seat for Lois.  Lois was sleeping (hello!?! NEVER wake a sleeping baby) and I really didn't want to wake her up, but I really wanted to make this purchase today because I was out and I knew she'd really love it.  How convenient it would have been if I were able to drive up to a window and say, "I would like one Bumbo seat, please...," pay and be on my way.  But no.  I had to park.  I had to get the stroller out of the trunk.  I had to heave the heavy car seat with Lois in it out of the car.  I had to go in, find and purchase the Bumbo (taking all but five minutes).  Then I had to come out, reload Lois, collapse and stow the stroller back in the trunk and then go home...and, of course, my peacefully sleeping baby...wide awake now.  Ahhh darn.

Mothers out there - what do you wish for?

On another note - the sleeping gods were smiling upon me last night. Jason was overnight at the hospital, so Lois and I were lone rangers here.  Lois fell asleep at 7 pm, awoke at 3am for a feeding and then slept until 6:30 or so - but played and cooed in her crib until 7:30am.  Oh man.  If I could only recreate that every night, I'd be one lucky mommy.  How she usually rolls is as follows:  Asleep around 8pm, wakes up for a feeding around 1am and then she's wide awake by about 5am.  This 5am garbage, my friends, is brutal!  This is entirely way too early for any human being to be awake - let alone be chipper and fully functioning to take care of an infant.  Let's hope Lois likes this schedule and the sleeping gods will continue in my favor.  One can only hope...

Goodnight!

Lois Ada's first photo shoot

When we were in Utah, we had pictures taken of Lois.  I love this lady's style - she was fantastic!  I would recommend her to anyone. Despite Lois being in the worst mood ever...she still got some great shots of our little bumpkins!
She was quite intrigued by this furry blanket!

I love these fat rolls

This is one of my favorites of all the pictures...

Love this smile

Gotta love the tongue!

She was not having any of this tutu. In fact, she kept trying to eat it and when she couldn't get it in her mouth, it made her even more upset!

This one sums up her mood that night...

Her classic, furrow-browed face

Again, the tongue.  I love that this photo shoot caught this one-week phase of her life.  You know, her sticking-her-tongue-out phase.

I'm in love with this chunky monkey.

This is one of the only smiles we got out of Lois the whole night.

Our crazy-haired Lois - almost four months old!

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

Jason is going to kill me for sharing this.  Really, though, it's quite hilarious.  I've never looked at my husband and ever thought he looked like a serial killer - until the day he decided to shave his beard off in stages.  First off, I didn't really like his beard that much in the first place, but it was tolerable.  I was happy when he decided to shave it to bless Lois.  So - what's with the title, you might ask?  How could the most kind, thoughtful, righteous and fabulous man look like a sex offender?  Well, grow a heinous beard and call it good...

Needless to say, Jason will never, ever, ever, ever, never, ever, ever - E-V-E-R be allowed to grow a go-tee (sp??!) or anything close to resembling one - in fear that he might get picked up off the streets for possibly looking like something he most definitely is not.  Take a look and let me know which stage you despise more.   I think the first set of pics are definitely the worst.

In any case, not every man that you see that looks like a sex offender/serial killer probably is not, but may actually just look like one.  My husband - for example.  Call it a bad call in fashion judgement??

The Trucker

He might be able to fit in better in Idaho with this one...handle bars n' all.

The 'stache...

The new doo...

Earlier this month I saw this stranger...she looked tired, she had huge, dark bags underneath her eyes, she had spit up on her clothes, she was as pale as they come and her hair was a mess. I felt for this poor stranger.  I could definitely relate. Who was this stranger, you ask?  Well, that stranger was the person staring back at me in the mirror.  Have you ever looked in the mirror and said to yourself, "what happened?"  Or better yet, not even recognize the person that was staring back at you?  Is that really me?  Do I look that badly?  Ahh yes.  The person inside of me (the one that doesn't recognize this stranger) says back, "I'm sorry sweetheart, but you kind of do."

While motherhood is SO wonderful, I have to say that it hasn't done much for my looks lately.  I rarely get ready for the day until about two in the afternoon - if at all, I usually shove my hair into a messy ponytail and slap some rouge onto my cheeks (so I don't look like a pasty matey). I had to do something - I had to put this stranger to bed.  I had to recognize myself again.

One of my absolute favorite things to do is get my hair done.  I was freaking out because I couldn't get an appointment with the lady that has cut my hair for the past 15 years -- and knowing the disasters I had faced in the past when I did visit another stylist out of desperation, I really didn't know what to do.  I needed a haircut and FAST.  Four months is way too long.  I went out on  whim and went to this lady that was recommended to me by a lot of my friends.  Luckily, it turned out okay and I like my haircut.  While it's not quite as good as my favorite stylist, I am happy and really - I feel like a new woman!  It's super short for me - I can't even put it in a ponytail!  This means that I actually HAVE to do my hair if I want to look decent.  It's a nice motivation for me to get ready so that I don't look like a crazy lady all the time.  haha!  I am grateful this day for hair dye and scissors so that I can feel pretty again.

Back to Life...

Hi everyone.  After a long three weeks, I'm back home in Tucson.  Utah was awesome - hanging out with family and friends!  I would have blogged some pictures but due to the poor excuse for a computer my parents have right now, I was unable to do anything within the blogsphere!  So, I'll apologize now for the flood of pictures that I am about to post!  As I am going through my pictures to blog, I wish that I had taken more!  I hardly took any pictures - none with my parents, none with my brother Jordan or future sis-in-law Kelly, none of my sis-in-law Tandi...I guess when you're holding a baby all the time, it doesn't give you much time to take some great pictures.  Oh, well!

These first batch of pictures are from Lois' baby blessing. It was a great day!  We had a lot of Jason's extended family come and my immediate family was there.  It was so great to have so many people who we love there to celebrate this great day with us.  Thanks all for coming and supporting us.

The Algers and several of the Stopas came
Lois' great grandpa Wright and cousin Erin
Jason's brother Nate and my brother Raleigh
The cutest niece in the whole wide world...Stella!
Daddy and Lois  - Aren't they cute?  That little bib was knitted by my great grandmother, Lillie.
Gramma Janny and Lois

Our second family shot - I think it's a little bit better than the first one we tried to take!
Grandpa Wright, Jason and the lady of the day

Jason, his dad and his grandpa -- Lois is so lucky to have so many great men in her life!

I'm a computer retard. Hopefully I can figure out how to post things on my blog without my sweet Macbook here with me!

We are still alive - Lois and I are in Utah and Jason flew back last Tuesday to start his crazy rotation on Wednesday. We miss him so much! We love you daddy-cakes. We can't wait to see you again.

Lois is doing great - the blessing was amazing. Jason, of course, did a great job and he gave her the most beautiful blessing. Lois and I are lucky ladies.

I got a new lease on life when I cut my hair! I feel like a new woman and I really like it. It's really short for me - it's at my chin and I'm loving it! No more mandatory ponytails because my hair was so awful!

I'll try to post pictures from the baby blessing soon. She looked beautiful in her dress and she was a quiet as a peep during the blessing - she was just staring at all the men around her...smiling, of course. She's such a great little baby!
